Going back to basics is a valuable exercise for designers and I decided to do just that with my lino cut, block printed designs.

Instead of working past the basic shapes, I stay with them, mining their rich potential for pattern and colour.​

Printing pressure is applied by hand, creating an uneven take-up of ink to produce a deliberately animated, hand worked finish.

​

Colours are mixed by eye, fresh for each print. I endeavour to colour match accurately but there will be slight variations. This, for me, is one of the joys of working this way.
